Rondom saxofonist Charles Lloyd vindt de volgende maanden een hele reeks evenementen plaats. Er gaat in nieuwe documentaire in première en er komt een nieuw duo-album Hagar’s Story uit. Written in Music zal het allemaal volgen, een en ander belichten en verslag doen.

Lloyd’s own voice, and those who worked with him over the last five decades help us discover and better understand this enigmatic man and his spiritual pursuit through music. A collaborative work of filmmakers Dorothy Darr and Jeffery Morse.

maart 22: THE KENNEDY CENTER, Washington D.C. celebrates saxophonist Charles Lloyd’s 75th birthday with a star-studded concert with pianist Jason Moran, Indian tabla master Zakir Hussain, bassist Reuben Rogers, drummer Eric Harland, and the legendary Greek vocalist Maria Farantouri.

Over his career Lloyd has played with some of the most talented musicians of our day, from Cannonball Adderly to the Doors and The Beach Boys
