Het lijkt wel een trend: bands die kort filmpjes maken ter promotie van een nieuw nummer. Beastie Boys deden het net met Fight For Your Right revisited) nu heeft ook rock ‘n’ roll band Social Distortion zo’n korte film gemaakt. Het gaat om een ‘extended music video’ voor hun single Machine Gun Blues.

Over de inhoud schrijft platenlabel Epitaph het volgende: “The short film for Machine Gun Blues starts in 1934 Los Angeles as Mike Ness and his ‘Blood and Sorrow’ crew of gangsters knock off a bank, only to realize the feds are hot on their trail. Shot at the famous Union Station in downtown LA and surrounding areas, the gang is chased through rolling, dusty roads to their hideout for an explosive showdown.”

De liefhebbers weten het wellicht al, voor alle anderen: Social Distortion gaat deze zomer tournee door Europa, ter promotie van hun laatste album Hard Times And Nursery Rhymes. Helaas staat voor Nederland maar één optreden gepland, dat is op 22 juni in Paradiso Amsterdam. Supporting act is Frank Turner. Tickets zijn te koop via de site van Ticketmaster. Op 3 juli speelt de band op het Rock Werchter festival in België.
