Op 9 november a.s. verschijnt het nieuwe album KOI NO YOKAN van Deftones. KOI NO YOKAN is het zevende studioalbum van de Amerikaanse rockband. Het in Los Angeles opgenomen album is geproduceerd door Nick Raskulinecz (Alice In Chains, Foo Fighters, Rush) die ook Deftones´ vorige album Diamond Eyes produceerde. De eerste single van het album is Tempest.

Net zoals bij de opnames van hun vorige album hielden de bandleden van Deftones zich aan een streng dagelijks werkschema. “We kind of adopted this new way of doing things, where we’d have a 7 or 8 hour work day instead of just working on things a piece at a time,” vertelt drummer Abe Cunningham, “It enabled us to be a lot more efficient. In the past, one of us would write something, record it, and then weeks — or even months — later, someone else would come along and add to it. We had totally lost that communal vibe. This time, all of the songs started with just the five of us together in a room, playing. It gave us a real sense of focus”.

KOI NO YOKAN – wat het begrip van liefde op het eerste gezicht betekent – moet niet zo letterlijk genomen worden volgens frontman Chino Moreno: “It’s really just trying to get at those tingling feelings that everybody gets from time to time. I just wanted to give people a descriptive emotion to work off of when approaching the record.”
